STEP 1
Standing with your jacket open, holding the edge of each side.
STEP 2
Pull the right side of the jacket across your body and fasten to the left using the ties.
STEP 3
Pull the left side of the jacket over the right across your body and fasten to the right using the ties.
STEP 4
Fold the belt in half to determine the center.
STEP 5
Place the centerpoint at the front of your waist.
STEP 6
Carry each end around the back of your body.
STEP 7
Then continue the ends to the front ensuring one is overlapping the other.
STEP 8
Tuck the top end underneath and between your jacket and belt as shown.
STEP 9
Place the bottom end across in front of your body and the upper end over the top.
STEP 10
Loop the bottom end up through the hole mad forming the knot.
STEP 11
Pull both ends of the belt tight to secure the knot.
STEP 12
The belt should not be complete and hanging at equal lengths. It is considered a matter of pride for the ends of the belt to be the same length after the knot is tied.
BELT RANKING SYSTEM
Below is the belt ranking system for Moon Lee Tae Kwon Do. Students will progress through these levels on their journey to become proficient in this martial art form. Each belt, excluding white is comprised of an additional striping system.
White
White represents purity and the beginning of the students knowledge in learning the art of Tae Kwon Do.
Yellow
Yellow represents warmth of the sun that allows the seed to grow. Students at this level are building a strong foundation much like a plants roots reaching into the soil. (Stripes x 2 – white)
Blue
Blue is the colour of the sky. The natural direction of the growing plant is always upwards. Students at this level are reaching new heights of learning. (Stripes x 3 – white)
Red
Red is the sign of danger. Students have learned much, but know very little. (Stripes x 3 – white)
Black
Black is the colour of mastery. Students at this level start a new chapter and beginning. The apprenticeship of coloured belts is over and the road to understanding begins. (Stripes x 9 – white)
